This Happened: Yarnslingers Book One is a compelling anthology of memoir-based true stories from 25 writers connected through the long-running Catskills storytelling collective, Yarnslingers. Compiled and edited by Greg Triggs, the collection gathers unforgettable stories first shared before live audiences across upstate New York and Sullivan County, Pennsylvania.
Founded in 2011 by Ramona Jan, Yarnslingers has become a celebrated storytelling community built around personal narratives inspired by a shared theme. In this anthology, those performances find a permanent home on the page.
The stories in This Happened explore humor, heartbreak, resilience, family, identity, survival, transformation, and unexpected human connection. Honest, intimate, and deeply relatable, the collection offers readers a vivid portrait of ordinary lives shaped by extraordinary moments.
Contributors include established and emerging writers such as Dawn McIntyre, Bizzy Coy, Greg Triggs, and William Yukikazu Fellenberg, alongside many voices from the Yarnslingers community. Together, their stories capture the spirit of live storytelling and the enduring power of sharing the truth about our lives.
