WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE HEART HAS SOMETHING TO SAY -- AND REFUSES TO BE SILENCED
In RAW: Poetry Wrung from a Still-Beating Heart, Rhonda Jean Bolton writes from the places where memory, love, grief, faith, passion, and loss collide.
These poems move through a lifetime: childhood summers and first love, family and remembrance, sensuality and longing, illness and death, the solace of faith, and the ache of watching loved ones slip away. Bolton finds meaning in the things that remain—a mother’s cup, an old quilt, a piano, a ballet barre, a familiar house, a lover’s eyes—and in the memories that can make the absent suddenly present again.
At times tender and nostalgic, at others sensual, anguished, or searching, RAW does not turn away from difficult emotion. Instead, Bolton gives it language.
This is poetry drawn from a life fully felt—poetry of love and longing, sorrow and resilience, memory and grace.
Poetry wrung from a still-beating heart.
